In case anyone is thinking of replacing their MGB clutch in the near future … I am in the middle of doing just that (after the carbon release bearing failed) and adding a performance exhaust while at it … and I found two “things they don’t tell you“:

  1. If you replace the clutch release bearing with one of the roller variety, and that bearing is of the integrated “plastic” carrier type (as supplied by Borg & Beck) then you DO NOT use the retaining clips that come with the kit!
  2. If you are fitting a replacement performance manifold, get it in position BEFORE you drop the engine back in!!
